Because the picture can’t go dark
Picture a knee replacement guided by augmented reality. The surgeon sees a virtual cutting line placed precisely on the patient’s bone. Now picture that guidance vanishing mid-cut because a single wireless link dropped.
In a busy operating room, interference from other equipment, a loose cable or a software hiccup can each break that one link.
Argos Health was founded to make sure that never happens. It brings together Miralupa, building augmented reality since 2011, and four orthopedic surgeons from McGill University: people who build AR, and people who operate with it.
Aircraft don’t depend on a single instrument. Argos Health applies the same principle in the operating room: the same tracking data travels by several independent routes at once, and the system keeps exactly one clean copy. If one route fails, the others carry on, and the guidance stays on screen.
One route fails. The other two carry on, and the surgeon never loses the picture.
